About us

Welcome to 196 ALBANY AVENUE DAY CARE CENTER, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing, and educational environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive. We believe that every child deserves access to quality early childhood care and education that supports their emotional, social, physical, and intellectual development.

Our center was founded with the mission of empowering families and strengthening the community through compassionate childcare services and early learning programs. We are committed to creating a positive atmosphere where children feel valued, encouraged, and inspired to explore their creativity and potential every day.

At 196 ALBANY AVENUE DAY CARE CENTER, we focus on building strong foundations for lifelong learning by offering age-appropriate activities, educational experiences, and caring support from dedicated staff members. We strive to foster confidence, kindness, independence, and curiosity in every child we serve.

We understand the importance of partnering with families to ensure children receive the support and guidance they need both inside and outside the classroom. Through open communication, community involvement, and a child-centered approach, we aim to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and parents alike.

As a nonprofit organization, our purpose goes beyond childcare — we are devoted to creating opportunities for children from all backgrounds to succeed in a safe and inclusive environment. Our commitment is to help every child feel loved, respected, and prepared for a bright future.

At 196 ALBANY AVENUE DAY CARE CENTER, we are proud to serve our community and support the next generation with care, compassion, and educational excellence.

OUR TEAM

Bringing Together Education and Advocacy for Your Child’s Success.

Founded in 2010 by Dr. Aurelia L. Curtis, WESAP was created to uphold education as a fundamental human right, with a focus on supporting communities in Dr. Curtis’ birth country of Liberia and her home for over 40 years, New York City. As a retired NYC public school educator, Dr. Curtis now serves as the Executive Director of CLA, bringing her decades of experience and passion for inclusive education to the forefront.

We know that each community is special—from Brooklyn’s vibrant Caribbean roots to Staten Island’s diverse, growing neighborhoods. Our school is committed to offering the support families need, whether that’s affordable after-school care, guidance on securing additional social and financial support, or simply creating a space where every child feels like a superhero.

Our teachers act as guides, helping children discover their strengths and providing the support they need to face new challenges.
